
Meet the Founder + Editor-in-Chief

As the founder and editor-in-chief of Anaverde Magazine, Malena Jackson oversees the editorial for all of Anaverde Magazine’s efforts across print, digital, video, and emerging platforms. Anaverde Magazine serves as Malena’s second print magazine. She founded and currently oversees My Preschool Journal, a bimonthly publication that is dedicated to families with preschool to elementary-aged children.
Previously she served as a business reporter for The University of Michigan’s foreign exchange in South Africa, where she focused on the economic impact of small businesses in KwaZulu-Natal and surrounding villages. In 2007 Malena launched a weekly podcast called, Family Planet365 which explores the ins and outs of how parents can create a life that they love, now.
Uplift. Educate. Empower. These serve as the trifecta of Anaverde Magazine. Malena has spent much of her career in service to family and children with a mission to add value through her media platforms.
Malena earned a master of science degree in journalism at Columbia University in New York, N.Y., and also holds a bachelor of science in Mass Communications from Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tenn. She lives in California with her husband and four children.
